You must be able to increase your volume and intensity in each training session and each training cycle if you wish to maximize your full genetic potential.

Bodybuilding: Volume Manipulation - Overtraining for Over-Growth

“How often should I go to the gym”? This is one question that always comes up in consultation with individuals seeking improvements in size OR strength. Unfortunately the answer is far from simple, and even the recommendations from various strength coaches can be completely opposite depending on the philosophy of the training advisor.

One may suggest that training frequency be reduced in order to allow increased recovery and sufficient muscular adaptation following a training stimulus. Increased rest may also be planned to prevent OR avoid a training plateau (when performance no longer improves despite administration of a training stimulus). The opposing view is to increase the training frequency in order to apply a greater stimulus to the muscle and demand a greater level of adaptation. Therefore, basing a workout design solely on training volume is not optimal.

Train Me a Habit - How Organizations Are Using Training to Gain a Competitive Edge

It was a sound I hadn't heard before, a 'ping' followed by a long silence. This sequence was repeated until the executive answered his phone. This distinctive ring tone was like the sound a NASA deep space probe might make as it searches the outer reaches of our solar system. ? While this executive was one of more than a dozen seated in a non-descript conference room, this distraction was enough to break our concentration and further prohibit a few key messages from developing out of his organization's presentation for a multi-million dollar opportunity. I started thinking about NASA's Galileo probe crashing into Jupiter's moon, Europa, while the executive answered his phone. Now there was one long ping followed by continuing silence.
